Our Background
Reverends Gordon & Marilyn Oliver were
married June 19, 1982 in Shreveport LA, while Gordon was
stationed at Barksdale AFB. They have celebrated 25 years of
marital bliss.
Marilyn accompanied her husband while he
served in the United States Air Force, retiring after 21 years
of service to his country. They traveled the world and were
blessed to have lived in some very exotic places, such as Italy,
Turkey, Hawaii, and various locations in the United States.
While at Andrews AFB, MD and attending
the Gospel service, they served as Lay Leaders for the One Flesh
Couples Ministry for over eight years. This ministry was formed
to teach married and engaged couples from a biblical perspective
how we should be in our marriages. Under their guidance and
leadership, this ministry grew to well over 50 couples attending
the various monthly bible studies, seminars, and retreats. They
have been guest speakers at various local churches in the
Washington, DC metropolitan area as well as out of town.
Reverends
Gordon & Marilyn both accepted their calling into the ministry
in October 1999 while serving at Andrews. In April 2003, they
left the chapel after 11 years to be a part of Israel Total Life
Ministries in Bryans Road, MD. They both served as ministers on
staff and the facilitators for the Marriage Enrichment
Fellowship. In October 2007 they joined Miles Memorial CME
church in Washington, DC under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Paul
L. Brown Sr.
In January 2006, the Lord was tugging on
their hearts to start a marriage ministry and, after much
prayer, “It Takes Three Marriage Ministries” was birthed. This
ministry is established to teach God’s biblical principles to
married, engaged and those seeking God first in their lives so
that He can bless their marriages. It Takes Three Marriage
Ministries is a non-profit organization and was incorporated
April 2007.
Reverends Gordon and Marilyn both love
the Lord. They truly believe that if they can teach a husband
and wife to keep Jesus in the center of their lives and
marriage, as they come closer to Jesus, they will come closer to
one another.
Their love produced two beautiful
children Carlos and Celestine. The Oliver’s currently reside in
Waldorf, MD.
